Neal Hendel is a judge on the Supreme Court of Israel.
Judge Hendel was born in the Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1952 and is a graduate of Yeshiva of Flatbush High School. He graduated from New York University in 1973 with a B.A. in sociology and Jewish studies, and later studied Talmud at Yeshiva University with Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik. In 1976, he completed his law degree at Hofstra University and became of member of the New York State Bar Association. He made aliyah in 1983 and has been a judge since 1988.
Serving first as a judge in the Beersheba Magistrate court, he was appointed to the Beersheba District Court in 1993. He became Vice President of the District Court in 2006. In August 2009 Neal Hendel was appointed a justice of the Supreme Court.
Judge Hendel's wife Marcie is a psychologist; they have five sons.
