Two fun-filled evenings in May marked the opening of this year’s WITH BRUSH AND PEN exhibit.
Special activities for the young artists and writers put the spotlight on everyone’s creativity.
The youngsters submitted lists of favorite paintings and sculptures and the object with the most “votes” will grace the cover of the AACI Voice next spring.  Heated discussions ensued about what causes us to respond to art – color, emotion, memory, humor – each person had a different opinion and each opinion was correct.
On the second evening the writers worked in groups with volunteer teachers to write stories which were read to the assembled audience.  Much laughter and gaity was the result!  A special addition this year was the printing of a booklet WORLDS FROM WORDS which contained all of the creative written work and each young author received a copy!
WITH BRUSH AND PEN just gets better every year!  We are proud that this project reaches out to all children and youth in Israel, across the communal barriers that frequently divide us.  The only criteria for participation are the talent and creativity of the young artists and writers, supported and encouraged by parents and teachers.  This year we acknowledged the teachers’ role in this process with special certificates and gifts.
We thank the Sugarman family the continuing generous support of WITH BRUSH AND PEN in memory of Betsy Sugarman z”l.
