AACI Private Pilot Trips
for Potential Olim
from North America
in cooperation with the
Aliyah movement of the Jewish Agency for Israel, Department of Immigration
& Absorption
AACI’s experience over the past 50 years
has led us to believe that a pilot trip in advance of your Aliyah is a wise
investment in your future successful absorption into Israeli life. We are
happy to make our many
resources
available to you during your visit. A
pilot trip can be hard work. However, with guidance from our staff and
volunteers, you can learn about your profession and the job market,
neighborhoods, schools – or whatever it takes to ensure you make a smooth
transition when you arrive home!
Why
an AACI private pilot trip?
A private pilot trip is a successful way for individuals or
couples to research possibilities for their own personal aliyah and
klitah (absorption). For over 50 years, AACI has been assisting
olim with accurate information and good advice.
For whom
are private pilot trips intended?
Such trips are intended for
individuals or couples considering aliyah, who are planning an
independent trip to Israel and who wish to include in their trip
meetings related to their personal and/or professional absorption in
Israel.
What does
the private pilot trip consist of?
Each private pilot trip is
planned according to the specific needs and requests of the individual
or couple participating in the trip. The trip includes one-on-one
meetings with AACI professionals and volunteer contacts, meetings with
contacts in relevant professions, visits to communities of interest,
meetings with Jewish Agency representatives as appropriate, and up-close
looks at trends in education, employment, health, and other aspects of
Israel. It is not a tour or complete program in Israel, but a
number of meetings arranged to help the potential oleh gain important
information so that their subsequent aliyah can be successful.
What is
the process?
Make a request for a
private pilot trip to AACI about 2 months* prior to arriving in
Israel. Let your Aliyah Shaliach know of your plans. He/she
can interview you, and help fill out the application, if you wish.
Send AACI the following documents, preferably by email:
-
The
application questionnaire for a private pilot trip
-
Your
resume, sent by e-mail in English or Hebrew
-
An
Shaliach interview summary form, which the shaliach fills out after
the interview (where applicable)
Based
on the details and requests contained in the application, AACI will
arrange contacts for each candidate.
NOTE:
Without the completed application form and resume, AACI cannot begin
organizing contacts.
AACI
can help with land arrangements (hotel and car) through our Ophir
Tours/Travel Experience program – contact us for more information.
It
is important to emphasize that professional meetings are not intended to
produce firm job offers, but are informational only!
What
happens afterwards?
Upon
return, please keep AACI and your local shaliach updated as you continue
the aliyah process. AACI will continue to be of service to you
both before and after your aliyah.
* The preparation for such a pilot trip requires a lot of time and
effort; therefore, please try to adhere to the 2-month advance notice
time frame. In extenuating circumstances, it may be possible for
AACI to accommodate a request with somewhat less advance notice.
What
is the fee?
AACI
overseas membership of 50$ US per family, plus a fee
of $50 US per adult.
